In the Resource Room:
Hello Parents & Student! Welcome to 2023/2024 School year! My name is Mrs. Doman and I will be working with your student this year.
I will be working with students in various ways this year. I may be pushing into their homeroom and/or working with them in my classroom. Either way, my goal is to provide all students with an educationally challenging, yet fun and rewarding experience in my classroom.
2nd Quarter Curriculum
3rd Grade:
Math: We will begin working in Module 4: Multiplication and Area. Students will learn about area as an attribute of plane figures, decomposing and recomposing shapes to find area, modeling tiling with centimeters and inches to find area, and relating side lengths to the number of tiles on a side.
Reading: We will focus on our essential question, "What causes change?" Our reading skills for this week is: Point of View and Figurative Language. Students should be working on reading, researching, and preparing for the Wax Museum at home. Wax Museum speeches are due on Friday, January 19th.
Writing: Informational Unit; Weather or Planets
Social Studies: Frankfort Over Time Unit
4TH Grade:
🧮 Math:
Eureka Module 3:
In this module, students will use place value understanding and visual representations to solve multiplication and division problems with multi-digit numbers. As a key area of focus for Grade 4, this module moves slowly but comprehensively to develop students' ability to reason about the methods and models chosen to solve problems with multi-digit factors and dividends.
📚 ELA:
Our theme for the second quarter is “Survival”. We will analyze how animals are portrayed across nonfiction and fiction texts.
Information: making inferences while quoting details from the text, determining the main idea and details while writing a summary, choosing the best summary from a group of summaries, analyzing the structures of nonfiction texts and being able to describe the purpose of each structure, and lastly, interpreting pictures, graphs, timelines, etc. to deepen understanding of a text.
In word study, we will review the word inquiry process and study Greek and Latin roots.
